An Exciting Soccer Match
There hasn't been a soccer match this exciting in a long time. We're now in the last minutes of overtime and the match is tied 2:2. Will there be a penalty shootout?
Here we go: The midfielder passes the ball to the forward – and he’s onside, just. The forward’s running and running. Can he score the winning goal? It looks like he might.
Here comes the fullback. They’re in the penalty area now. What’s that? The fullback has tripped the forward. Foul! Has the referee seen it too? Yes he certainly has. He’s given the fullback the red card. Tough call. The forward’s placed the ball on the penalty mark. Can he do it? That is the question. He’s taking a run-up and...ohhh! The goalkeeper saves the ball and kicks it off. No goal.
The referee’s alreday got the whistle in hand. Time is almost up. But hang on a minute. The midfielder’s got the ball now. Can he do it? Yes he can! Goal! Goal! The fans are going wild, their team has won the cup!
What a game, what a game indeed.
