My cousin's birthday
Yesterday was a special day because it was my cousin Emily's 30th birthday. We threw her a birthday party at my aunty's house and I decorated the lounge room with balloons and garland.
When Emily arrived I ran over to her to wish her a happy birthday and surprise her with a bouquet of sunflowers. It's bad luck to open your birthday presents before you've read your birthday card, but because my present wasn't wrapped it didn't matter that Emily saw her flowers before she read her card.
There were lots of yummy things to eat and drink. My mum and aunty made salads, party pies and sausage rolls and my grandmother made a huge birthday cake. After we had sung happy birthday Emily made a wish and blew out the candles. She cut the first piece of cake and the knife came out dirty which meant she had to kiss the nearest boy.
Besides family there were lots of other guests of all different ages at the party. Everyone brought birthdays presents which they had wrapped in colourfully patterned wrapping paper. When it was time to open the presents Emily found a ribbon on the floor and next to the table was an unwrapped present. The cat had torn the bow off a small box and eaten the soap inside. I hope that she doesn't start blowing bubbles the next time she drinks water!
