Feelings of spring

Yesterday, I received a letter from my sister. She lives in Cornwall in the southwest of England, which is the warmest region of the country. Spring has already arrived there, whereas it is still very cold here in Liverpool. So my sister described her garden to me in her letter.

Dear Jonathan,

How are you? Have you recovered from your cold yet? I am very well, as always, when the sun is shining. Spring has completely arrived here in Cornwall. Because I know that it is still quite cold in Liverpool, I want to describe to you the scene that I am watching in my garden at the moment.

The tulips have already started to sprout from the ground and are blossoming in the most beautiful colours. Even the daffodils have already started to blossom. Of course, all these beautiful flowers are attracting all kinds of insects and small animals. Right now I can see a ladybird, a butterfly and two bees from my window.

A frog is already living in the pond which we dug out last summer. He is watching the insects with great interest.

As you know, we also breed animals here. They can finally leave the stable now and walk around on the field. A few eggs are still inside the nest but most of the chicks have already hatched. And our rabbit is hopping across the grass cheerfully, enjoying the sun and …

How cheeky! The little lamb has picked a tulip and is holding it in its mouth. I am going to have to protect my flower beds, otherwise the animals will eat everything!

I hope that spring will arrive in Liverpool soon too!
