Clumsy Tony and Sleeping Beauty
Hugo has had a terrible day. After a lovely walk in the park, his girlfriend suddenly broke up with him for no reason at all. Feeling blue, he walks into the living room, turns on the lamp and, oh – like being stabbed in the heart! Everything reminds him of his beloved Katie: her knick-knacks on the shelf, the pink bunny, that strange Chinese vase, the vanilla candle and, of course, Katie’s picture on the wall. It’s all too much for him. He just wants to forget about everything, so he collapses on the couch, takes the remote control and turns the T.V. on. Then he pours himself a glass of wine and begins to drink. Exhausted, he quickly falls asleep.
Clumsy Tony, the neighbourhood thief, has been watching Hugo through the window. He gathers his courage and tiptoes inside but he knocks over a chair as he enters the room. It lands on the rug with a thump. Luckily, Hugo keeps on snoring. Just like sleeping beauty, it seems like nothing will wake him. Poor Hugo, Tony thinks to himself as he sits for a moment in the armchair. He too pours himself a glass of wine and wonders how he can help Hugo. Then he has a brilliant idea — he will steal Katie’s things, that way Hugo won’t think about her as much. So Tony puts the glass on the table and gets to work. He take an ugly necklace and that old-fashioned watch and silently tiptoes away.
