At the Airport
Finally it’s time to go on holiday! Mrs Blake has really earned it. She works for a big bank and sometimes has to work late into the night. Now she has an entire week to herself and wants to fly to the Caribbean. She arrives on time at the check-in counter, presents her passport and hands over her two suitcases.
Meanwhile, the airport is very busy. A pilot and a flight attendant hurry past Mrs Blake. One window gives a view of the control tower and a plane waiting on the runway. Through another windowpane, you can see a baggage conveyor belt with big suitcases and backpacks on it.
Mrs Blake receives her boarding pass and says thank you. Her flight is leaving from Gate A. Now she can enter the duty-free zone. Shopping is her passion and she hopes she won’t have to pay duty fees at customs on her return voyage.
At this point Mrs Blake does not yet know that the air traffic controllers have begun to strike. The runway will be empty for the rest of the day.
