Trouble at the Restaurant

During the holidays, Max is visiting his grandparents who own a small restaurant. This is great because Max can eat in the restaurant every day and choose what he wants from the menu. Today, he chose chicken and potatoes. As a drink, he ordered lemonade and for dessert he is having a large serving of ice cream.

At midday, his grandparents’ restaurant is not very busy yet. Only a few guests are there. Apart from Max, there is only one other guest in the restaurant – an elderly woman. She has just asked for the bill but she is still drinking her coffee. Max’s grandfather, who is the waiter, has just printed out the bill at the till and has put it on the tray which also holds Max’s ice cream.

Suddenly, someone is screaming in the kitchen. First, a cat comes running through the restaurant. Then, the cook runs after it. Oh no! The cat has stolen a fish from the kitchen and is racing towards the door. The cook, who was about to cook the fish, is chasing after the cat angrily.

“Lucky that the cat wanted fish today and not chicken,” Max thought to himself.

Aufregung im Restaurant

Während der Ferien besucht Max seine Großeltern, die ein kleines Restaurant besitzen. Das ist toll, denn Max kann jeden Tag im Restaurant essen und von der Speisekarte wählen, was ihm gefällt. Heute wählte er Hühnchen mit Kartoffeln. Als Getränk hat er Limonade bestellt. Und als Dessert gibt es eine große Portion Eis.

Mittags ist im Restaurant seiner Großeltern noch nicht viel los. Es gibt nur wenige Gäste. Außer Max befindet sich nur ein weiterer Gast im Restaurant - eine ältere Dame. Sie hat eben die Rechnung bestellt, trinkt aber noch ihren Kaffee. Max‘ Großvater, der Kellner ist, hat die Rechnung gerade an der Kasse ausgedruckt und auf das Tablett gelegt, auf dem Max’ Eis steht.

Plötzlich hört man jemanden in der Küche schreien. Erst rennt eine Katze durch das Restaurant: Dann kommt der Koch ihr hinterhergerannt. Oh nein! Die Katze hat sich in der Küche einen Fisch gestohlen und flitzt damit zur Tür. Der Koch, der den Fisch gerade kochen wollte, rennt der Katze wütend hinterher.

„Gut, dass die Katze heute Fisch wollte und nicht Hühnchen,“ denkt sich Max.
