get vs. become

Get tiene muchos significados.

get (informal, expresión oral) become (formal, expresión escrita)
She got angry and yelled at the children.Se enfadó y gritó a los niños. She became furious and scolded the children.
The weather gets warmer the further south you go.El tiempo es más cálido según te acercas al sur. As we travelled south, the weather became increasingly warm.
They got tired after an hour or so of walking. He became weary from the long day of travel behind him.
No puede usarse get + sustantivo.
Ejemplo:

grow vs. turn

Ejemplo:
In Autumn, the leaves turn brown.En otoño, las hojas se ponen marrones. (también: … the leaves go brown.)
It felt as if her hair had turned gray overnight. (también: her hair had gone gray …)

The rich are growing richer and the poor are growing poorer. (también: the rich are getting/becoming richer …)

Ejemplo:
Layla is turning 30 next year.Layla cumplirá 30 el año que viene. (no: Layla is getting 30 next year.)
He turned 22 on his last birthday. (no: He became 22 on his last birthday.)
