Simple Past - Present Perfect Simple
Introduzione
Mentre in italiano, anche se nel linguaggio parlato si utilizza spesso il passato prossimo che può essere sostituito con il passato remoto, in inglese esistono differenze nell'uso tra Present Perfect e Simple Past.
Quando troviamo un'indicazione di tempo che si riferisce al passato dobbiamo utilizzare il Simple Past. Nelle frasi che non contengono indicatori siamo noi a decidere se l'azione passata è compiuta o se continua ad avere un'influenza sul presente.
Le spiegazioni e gli esercizi che seguono si rifanno all'inglese britannico. Nell'inglese americano si utilizza spesso il Simple Past al posto del Present Perfect Simple.
I have been to the theatre only three or four times in my life. I last went to the theatre in 2005. I saw the Shakespeare play Hamlet. I have not been to the theatre since.
Last week my friend phoned and asked me if I wanted to go to the theatre with her. I said yes.
I have bought a new dress and now I’m in the theatre and I’ve just found my seat.
