Phrasal Verbs

Introduzione

Esempio

Norman is going through hard times at the moment. His girlfriend broke up with him last week. He always thought they were got on well. But now he has to get by without her.

Well, somehow he has to put up with the situation. Life goes on.

Esempio:
go through – attraversare
Norman is going through hard times at the moment.
get by without someone – fare a meno, fare senza
He has to get by without her.

Esempio:
His girlfriend broke up with him last week.
His girlfriend ended their relationship last week.
He always thought they got on well.Aveva sempre pensato che si capissero bene.
He always thought they were on good terms.
Well, somehow he has to put up with the situation.Beh, in qualche modo deve farsene una ragione/deve accettare la situazione.
Well, somehow he has to accept the situation.
Life goes on.La vita continua.
Life continues.

Esempio:
He fell for his girlfriend.Era cotto della sua ragazza. (non: He fell his girlfriend for.)
He fell for her.Era cotto di lei. (non: He fell her for.)

Esempio:
She threw his love letters away./She threw away his love letters.Lei buttò via le sue lettere d'amore.
She threw them away.Lei le buttò via. (nicht: She threw away them.)
